Christmas at Kačí's

Duck Smoothcoking there is no need to introduce myself, and if necessary , please: Kačí is the mother of two boys, Árti's wife, a great cook, influencer and author of cookbooks. In addition, she is absolutely unstoppable and has energy to spare. I would like to borrow at least a little from her :). This is Kačí, the woman who revealed her secret wish and also what they enjoy for Christmas.

What makes you happy?

The peace I found in myself. I had to wait for it and grow into it. Because with my nature, that I have to do everything to please, help and have everything "perfect", it was difficult. But with the arrival of Tobinka in the world came the realization that I don't need anything. I only have what I really want. Since then, I feel unbound and myself, and everything in my life, family, and work is reflected from that.

If you had to say who Kačí Smoothcooking is in three words, it would be ....

A very difficult question. Balanced, dedicated, hardworking.

I like it best when ...I am surrounded by those who make me happy, relaxed and unrestrained. Then it doesn't matter where we are.

What is your guilty pleasure?

For example, the fact that I "lie" to my friends that I'm not doing anything, so as not to stress them out by always doing something. 😅 It's meant in a good way, because I don't want to make people feel that they have to, when I have so much energy in my wine that I could supply half of Prague with it. 😁

People say about me ...that I am a motor mouse that is indestructible. 😅 (At least I know who our Tobi is after.)

But I think about it ...that they are right. But it's not about having energy to give away, rather I'm always satisfied with the feeling of a tidy apartment, ironed laundry, tasty cooked food that the people around me like, or maybe family photos. And so it gives me motivation not to sit in it and keep doing something. 😁

I love when ... (there is). When my boys just hug me, give me a kiss and say they love me. When the warmth of home is warm at home When I come home and everywhere smells of essential oils, crumbs do not stick to my feet, when everything has its order, when people are not late, when people around me can relax and laugh from the heart and throw away everything it bothers them. When I can walk barefoot in the grass, in the dirt or at home. And that completely, without socks. When I put on a piece of clothing that is so comfortable that I snuggle up to it and feel great in it. When I put some food on the table and everyone likes it and it doesn't matter if it's a freshly baked roll with butter or hours of pulled beef in wine. When it's autumn outside, it's sunny and colorful. When...anything happens that makes me say that life is worth living.

Since Kači and I were shooting a Christmas editorial, I had to ask about Christmas as well.

How is your Christmas?

Ordinary, Czech, unstarchy, comfortable. Those without stress, crazy cleaning and words I have to. We don't have to do anything. We just drink hot chocolate, watch fairy tales, go for a walk with the animals, eat dinner, open presents and we are happy to be. That we are together.

Is it something you only started doing with children?

We combined more traditions and really started to enjoy the Christmas season, the atmosphere and the magic of Christmas. I've always loved this period, but now it's completely different.

Traditions that leave me cold ...we always drink hot chocolate in bed and watch the Grinch. Country apple, we pour lead, we put a scale under the plate, we don't get up from the table.

My most beautiful gift was ...I cried once when I got my dream pots. It's about 5 years ago. 😁

What would we enjoy at Kačí during the Christmas Eve dinner?

Salmon cream with ricotta dumpling in a three-pack. Potato salad, breaded carp, steak and cod. Then we always prepare sandwiches that we eat for the rest of the evening.

Will someone get yours for Christmas? a cookbook ?

He won't get it, everyone already got it before Christmas. 😁

Which recipe from the cookbook is your favorite, and which one do you have a very personal connection to?

There are a lot of them. I would say that every recipe in the cookbook has its own story. Whether it contains memories of great-grandmother, grandmother, my childhood or my boys' favorite foods.

How long did you write the cookbook?

Exactly 1 year. But the recipe was already full, I just tested them again, modified them, measured them. The hardest part was taking photos of the recipes.

Was there a moment when you wanted to give up?

Yes. When we fell ill with a disease that is trending in every direction these days. They closed our kindergarten for 4 months. I was so tired that I couldn't even prepare breakfast. Everything was on me and I had no strength. I couldn't keep up and I felt pressure and not enthusiasm about creating.

And how did you overcome it?

I overcame it by finishing it and submitting it. At that moment I knew that nothing would change and it would be the way it is. It was a relief.

what is your dream

Probably just one more. For a third baby to find its way to us, to introduce our family and make us feel complete. Otherwise, I have to knock, but we fulfill many dreams and they actually live in one big one.

What do you have in our shop Betty Brands most like?

The overall originality of the choice of cut and brands. That it's not a dime a dozen shop, but it has an idea that you stick to. It really is one of my favorites. You're doing great, Paja. 🤗
